The first day at kindergarten,flashes back into her head.All the kids in the classroom starts to cry when the lesson is about to begin because all the parents have left.The teachers panicked to settles 20 children at once,except for one girl.She's calm,as if everything's normal for her.Whereas,she's just as nervous as anybody else.But,more strangely,she has her eyes on someone since he walks in.She doesn't know who he is,just like she doesn't know every single person in the class.But somehow,he caught her attention.So,ever since,she never forgets him.Though,they never spoke to each other,but...well,that's just about it.Every weekdays,they see each other but did their own thing.Pretend like he did not exist.They stay like this,until the day they graduated kindergarten.After that,she never saw him again.
Now,Aliyah is 18 years old.Right now,she's taking her morning walk,as usual.But for today,it's not as usual as before.She saw someone.Someone who has always been in her head,but never in her thoughts.She could not believe what she just saw.It is really him?Hmm...Maybe not.She sigh.Don't embarrassed yourself in front of some guy,Aliyah.So,she walks away.She jogs around the lake about 45 minutes,then she took a rest.While she's drinking her water,she realizes someone is stretching next to her.When she turns her head,she became speechless.
"Assalamualaikum".He said with a smile.
"Waalaikumussalam,Lukman".She replies.Then,she looks at Lukman's friend.He's sitting on the ground,panting.Suddenly,he turns his head.He gave Aliyah a smile.
"How are you,Aliyah?"
What?He knows?Aliyah was shocked!But not as shocked as Lukman.As far as he knows,he has been Aliyah's classmate since the first grade.How did his friend,here knew Aliyah whereas he went to a different school?
"Hey,Samir.I'm Fine.Never been better".She smiles back,even though she's a little nervous.Why wouldn't she?He never spoke to her before.This is the first time,EVER.
Samir is still smiling.It has been a long time,Aliyah.It's nice to see you again.
"You guys used to jog here?" Aliyah addressed the question to Lukman.
"Huh?Oh yeah.Twice a week".Lukman could not concentrate on anything but the possibilities of how they could know each other.
Aliyah continues to drink her water.Lukman took this chance.He squats down,stare at Samir.Samir looks back at Lukman,strangely.
"How did you know Aliyah?"Lukman whisper to Samir,but Aliyah still could hear his voice.She chuckles from inside.
"Err...You don't need to know".Samir replied nervously.
"I want to know.I'm not satisfied.If you're not gonna tell me,I'll ask her,k?"
"Nah...You don't have to".
"Then?Tell me how you guys know each other?"
"Umm...I'll tell you later lah".
"K,guys.I'm going.Bye."Aliyah said to them,wave and left.
It really is him.But how?It's impossible.After 12 years,he still remembers my name?Even though we never spoke to each other?But why?Who was i to him when we're 6 years old?For sure,she could not answer that question because she,herself doesn't know.But it was great to see him again,though.She smiles the entire way back home.
"Serious?But how could you still recognizes her after all these years?"Lukman was surprised by what Samir just told him.
"I'm not sure.I just...never forgets anything about her".Samir replied,calmly.
"But why?How come?I don't mean to insult,but she's not that pretty so you could lock her appearance into your memory.Or,maybe she was cute in the past?"
"Haha.Not really.I could see her snot everyday,actually.Hmm...I don't know.Ever since the first day,i was stunned by her.Everyone were crying,including me...but just not her.She seemed normal...but special to me".
Samir starts daydreaming.Why did i never forgets you,Aliyah?Although,I'm glad you still remembers my name,but i still don't understand.Who are you to me?More importantly,do you know who am i to you?12 years,Aliyah.After 12 years,still we could recognize each other.Why?Although,i cannot believe we are being reunited again.Seriously,nothing's impossible.If Allah wills it,then nothing will keep us apart.Is this a sign?Is this fate?We don't know anything about each other.How can...AH!Forget it!But..why you?Why me?
Samir's head spun with questions.None of them could answer the question.Maybe it's just a coincidence...who knows.Or maybe this really is their fate that Allah determined for them.Wallahualam.
